Plastic Bottle money back scheme

I really wish the plastic bottle return scheme was implemented. There was talk of a scheme where you would get 25p or 50p for each plastic bottle returned.

My main barrier to plastic recycling at work is, no incentive to do so.

With so many other priorities for the day, and the need to keep shared areas clear of objects, mostly everything goes into one bin.

I’ve even found my use of prepared meals including plastic drinks increase, because staff are not included in food, except when leftovers are available.

Some companies I worked for as an agency worker allowed staff to eat, however the policies weren’t too clear.

One session you could be invited to join in with the meal after the clients, and other sessions you might find yourself told off for taking unauthorised foods like a banana!

The long shift patterns, and unpredictable facilities for preparing own food, means that the good intention to make something at work, becomes side lined, and more pre-packed meal deals are needed.

Finally when the day is finished, I return home, where I live alone, and the motivation to cook from scratch is depleted even further at having no one to share or enjoy fresh food with.

I wish the small cash back for plastic bottles scheme was introduced, or similar ways where recycling can be incentivised, rather than an extra chore, when other demands are prioritised higher on the to do list.

Who is going to college tomorrow?

Sometimes I get really up in arms about how tough life is for ME. But look at what the other course mates went through, and most struggled to get a course qualification after the efforts of attending.

Frustrated and overwhelmed by physical disability

In the last five years I have cared for three wheelchair users on a medium term basis and many other wheelchair bound clients.

One of my main struggles is feeling really angry when I get prevented from doing something or carrying out a plan or goal which is important to me.

Whilst this picture shows a working person as a part of group. When you lose your mobility such as the strength to stand independently, there are so many life limiting circumstances that occur.

I met some people who had cereal palsy, who used a chair for their entire lives, and others who had successful careers at Rolls Royce or even just average careers like in a casino.

Plenty of people with mobility problems have to face each day, knowing they need to reply on another pair of legs from a non disabled adult to help them with their daily lives.

And the frustration can become infuriating when someone deliberately or unintentionally prevents access.

I’ve been pretty angry in my life on many occasions and as a theme over recent years, and I have really appreciated hearing the stories of disabled individuals whom I supported when their goals were stopped or just the build up of small disappointments about things that were forgotten.
