Managing Stress 1

How do you approach stress, or are you suddenly having a stress attack?

I’m trying a few strategies this last few months, here’s what’s helping me.

  1. I’ve enjoyed some time gaming, I was fortunate enough to buy a second hand gaming console and having some screen time where I’m not on emails or connecting with anyone particular, I have found helpful.
  2. Breakfast socials with friends or family. Well it’s cheaper to have someone else cook and heat the place isn’t it?
  3. The gym. It is becoming less of a chore, more of a leisure pastime. I’ve even increased my time in the building from 17 minutes to 29!
  4. Writing, I still find writing in a journal with pen a good way to let go of thoughts which are bothering me.
  5. Staying in touch with friends by phone when the distance is too far with travel costs.
  6. Trying to be more assertive, and leave more moderate feedback about things I am concerned or interested in.
  7. Having enough jumpers, extra joggers and blankets
  8. E-learning – I was amazed to find my job has many modules which I hadn’t used which could help me find better work options.
  9. A budget
  10. Actually I tend to blow my budget frequently, so more acurate recording of expenditure and income is helping me manage better so I know when to save for bills like rent and utilities.
  11. Relying on our government to resolve things….

I’m having realistic expectations here. I expect to be entertained by the governments shenanigans

Building our future

I’m having a few days away to rest and relax. I was thinking about how to build for a future which seems uncertain.

Things have changed quickly in the housing market, with prices inflating. This is a flat I looked at a few years ago in a quieter part of town.

In 2019 and 2020 I joined some developers networks and started this wordpress site because I wanted to learn skills like website design and blogging. 🙂

What is your life goal?

I noticed many people in my network are becoming more focused on their life goals. These might include aspirations such as getting a job where their skills are used really well, or finding a home which suits their needs perfectly, moving into unknown or new adventures is a common theme.

Some people are thinking more about how good they want to feel with the acceptance and admiration of others, as we heal some of the emotional cost of separating ourselves to prevent the spread of the virus.

Perhaps the common objective is, 2020 and 2021 has made people more serious about things they wanted to achieve in their lifetime.

Why don’t you ask yourself, your friend or neighbour…. what their big lifetime goal is, you might be surprised that many people have one.
