An inappropriate or unappetising Easter spring holiday

The more palatable option of pastel colour bunnies, chicks and flying sheep and rainbows, with some more bunnies to pin tails onto seemed less likely to cause problems. Jesus however, his brutal murder, isn’t exactly marketing fodder. I remember one class assembly when a vivid description of him being beaten towards death set off a young lady into a seizure.

One of the group was sitting at their Easter lunch, picking from the buffet and pipes up ‘we are not joining in with the ramadan’ the muslims can’t eat until night time.

Another, difficult to translate into a practical exercise, concept.

Maybe if you were a college tutor,

Ask the class to agree not to eat or drink in daylight hours.

Arrange a local meeting point for an evening banquet every night.

Or a zoom, if someone can’t make it.

As much as it’s difficult to include the death of Jesus in Christianity and his extra supernatural reappearing. It’s also disappointing not to be able to join in with the contrast of total fasting and the coming together with a meal at 8pm.

I feel sort of ripped off by the poorly fitting easter hoop game, which didn’t stick together, so when the hoop landed on them, you had to glue the stick back on.

What about you?

Do you include faith stories and disciplines in your Easter break?

What the bunny hell is it all about?

I really like the spring colours and life of the plants and gardens coming to life. And the people, re-awaking from the winter.

And returning to normal life, as best we can, in 2022.

Progress in Kabul but not in Kabul

When the Twin Towers were hit with a tragedy beyond the scale of anything I had ever known, I was shocked and afraid of this ‘Islam Extremist’ move.

However I think we have made societal progress. There are so many wonderful humanitarian examples of the muslim faith and islamic community.

Whilst we were in Afghanistan, the advocacy to break up Islamophobia has enabled such a positive move of moderate Muslims to carry out their values within the traditional British cultures and beliefs without any trouble.

Yes we are in Kabul making no progress.

But also I hope you will join with me in agreement that the muslim community in the world also rejects this extremism within some sects of society.

As a Christian I have sometimes seen some more extreme views held within edges of the faith community which desired a more literal interpretation of the bible or ancient texts.

The Sharia law has some aspects which when toned down can be incorporated or discussed within society. And I hope most people will reject the harmful and even evil parts of a world view which has become distorted.

Let’s do what we can to moderate those influences in the world which might seek to bring us down to a less than human race.

Singing Praises with Fat Boy Slim

And I’m comfy like a cesspool
Want to be with you
And it’s my premonition
I better give my heart a listen
And my preacher sayAll of your demons will wither away
Ecstasy comes and they cannot stay
You’ll understand when you come my way
‘Cause all of my demons have withered awayAll of your demons will wither away
Ecstasy comes and they cannot stay
You’ll understand when you come my way
‘Cause all of my demons have withered away
All of my demons have withered away

Drop the hate
Forgive each other
Drop the hate hate hate hate
(repeat)

How on earth are you supposed to vibe around the fake ones
The one, the ones that say
They know what is what but they don’t know what is what
They just strut
What the fuck?I get deep, I get deep, I get deep, I get deep, I get deeper
Into this thing
And I pretend that they’re not there
I just staregrocery cart with item
Up in the booth at the dread man spinnin the song
Spinnin it strong
Playing things like
We cannot house we can
That’s my shit
What?
Whoooooo!

I get deep, I get deep, I get deep, I get deeper
Into this thing
The deeper I go
The more knowledge I know
What to sing
What to bring
Wha
