In from the side new film – Gay Rugby

Deciding to take the plunge

I’m an LGBTQ+ woman, so why would I watch the film… well, why not? It’s great to see representation which the gay community has more input over, and it will feel closer to home. The film picks up themes of succeeding and failing as a team, how that feels.

Spoiler alert***

The two men who hit it off, are both in relationships, which aren’t fulfilling them. They have great chemistry and are soon pursuing each other, to discover more, and to feel that wonderful feeling of the connection they share.

Trouble brewing

Their partners both signify stability or returning favours, like being helped out from a bad period of time. Mark and Warren find a fresh start with each other, and are really well suited, like soul mates and partners.

It’s too difficult to break off the existing relationships and it all comes out at the wrong time, during a NYE party.

The feel of the film

I really liked the music, and I found myself crying when Mark & Warren break up for the last time. A few cringe moments, as they tried to keep it secret, to avoid their relationship being outed in the group.

Yes, I really was crying in the cinema, so that says something about the performance of the actors being good.

Best supporting roles

There were some really great supporting roles including Marks best friend Henry, and the team joker/clown – Pinkie.

I hope I haven’t said too much about the film. It’s all about the sentiment you feel when you see it at the cinema.

Uncommitted what happens when commitment becomes a place of conflict?

Blog and personal journey update….

I wrote a few months back about my feelings on being committed by being presently committed to just one opportunity. And in the last two weeks that commitment has been ended by my employer.

So it’s only right to go back to that feeling of ‘commitment’ and calendar planning.

I stuck three pages of white A4 paper over my wall planner.

Most of my failings to keep a commitment, usually end with the other removing the ‘commitment’. Because I am very loyal overall and likely to continue to complete and continue with my commitment, until told to STOP.

What I learned about work growing up……

I learned thinking, that being sick from work means, you are having vomiting and toilet troubles. So in a very literal and obvious sense not being able to take oneself to work.

How else to be sick from work. Or what else to do, if it might be.. becoming uncomfortable, or a place of conflict.

So now I am free to find something else to work on, work to do, getting a wage or salary. Sometimes I think of the way fulfilled my job. I could go a whole day, with nothing productive to work on, it seemed. Sure the routines were in place, and moving from seat to seat of responsibilities.

Wordy tips

Even WordPress tools are saying I am using too many passive sentences in my writing!! I’m also using this article as a test on new WordPress SEO tools. More subheadings and get the reading ease better using active prose.

Time to look ahead

Having some time away from the job, which looks like I am going to try to get fitter, and has enabled me to find some thing to work on. I have the chance to look for people to work on that with.

  1. I am going to find team mates who are ready to be discovered or reconnected with!
  2. Searching for the next assignment to be decided on or applied for, sites like Indeed
  3. Chilling and relaxed mindset needed, but motivation required too!

Colston and Chips

It’s difficult to be a tourist in your own city, I managed it, by visiting the MShed and seeing Colston lying down in the MShed warehouse.

Returning home from work I saw the car park with it’s twisting down lanes. It made me think of the clean air zone. It’s coming soon, was supposed to be summer, now it’s November.

The M32 motorway junction one is included. If you have a non compliant car and travel into the shopping centre or for restaurants and other entertainment you’ll have to pay £7 per day.

I remember once, I was asked on a date whilst traveling down the spirally loop in a car.

I try not to depend on cars, I find them sources of conflict. When I had one, I found the garage used to charge me too much. And I accidentally knocked a car in the car park, and that incident cost me my no claims record.

Sometimes I feel sorry for myself, back then, being young and a woman, having had these difficulties managing responsibility. Then feeling I was I fleeced by the garage and the car owner who claimed too much on his part, for a small scrape.
